Low cost car insurance and credit scores: the debate continues

Oh, the hypocrisy of exquisite. Was perfectly acceptable to the Administration Bush save investment banks and richest company in October 2008 when their negligent behavior caused a widespread economic collapse – but when individuals fall on hard times, through no fault of their own, they must be punished again and again and again – even be denied auto insurance low cost.

The argument made by assurance undertakings, of course, is that a person's failure to protect your credit is a direct reflection on their global character and sense of responsibility; someone with a low credit score are more likely to get into an accident or file a complaint.

The debate continues

The practice of tying a consumer credit score for theirauto insurance coverage is allowed in 26 States.Legislators in those States, including Michigan economically-blasted, have tried to change this practice, but the power of money company so far has been too much for their to overcome.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is continuing to study this unfair practice egregiously. The Association urges insurance companies now to defend the connection between the credit scores and General auto insurance rates by participating in a survey that would demonstrate how weigh other factors like age, sex, Driving records, region and type of vehicle.

The answer

Jim Donelson, who is the Commissioner of insurance Louisiana – a State where drivers pay higher insurance rates in the nation – defended the practice, saying:

"If we have banned the use, as he tried to Washington and Michigan let us do so, those with good credit scores will pay more and those with bad credit will pay less," he said."Insurance is about the risk of spreading. Unlike age, we cannot control the people, driving records are determined by their personal activities and your insurance score is determined by your own protection or failure to protect your credit ."

Note The last few words there. under normal circumstances, where there was full employment and decent wages, Donelson could have had an argument; however, as NAIC members point out, the current ' economic recession with more people working "due to outsourcing and budget cuts to preserve bailout and tax cuts for the rich and finance the military-industrial complex brings serious questions about the correctness of all.

The other side

In honesty, va car insurance is extremely competitive, profit margins are not what it once was (though most agents still make a comfortable living, if not lavish). Furthermore, it is not always the case that people with poor credit scores are penalized with higher rates of insurance – indeed, they are denied access tobudget car insurance that people more fortunate are offered.

Still, there is a strip of Calvinist in American culture, suggesting that the rich and powerful have favor "Divine" and is somehow "unworthy" those who are poor and must be punished.

Given the behavior of these rich and powerful interests, which were spend hundreds of millions – and even billion dollar – to influence the election this year, though, maybe more than those who actually have to work to live are finally questioning this.

Is something to think about when you compile your vote this year.

Meanwhile, your best chance of getting a decent insurance rate – even if your credit isn't stellar – is to obtain acar insurance quotefrom different sources as many as possible and make insurers to compete for your business.

Affordable car insurance and credit rating

When it comes to credit reporting agencies and credit scores are used to evaluate how consumers in ways that had never understood, a growing number of Americans is asked (and rightfully so): "whoever made them God?" And let's face it, the practice of using a credit score to determine how affordable auto insurance should be for an individual is questionable at best (particularly when banks largest, richest and corporations that engage in careless conduct financial bailout since the last administration had in October 2008).

Fortunately for consumers, elected officials who oversee insurance companies in the State are pushing for more discussion about this practice.

Time Was …

Between 1950 and 1980 – the "golden age of the American middle class," increasingly becoming a distant memory – it was possible to almost anyone with a training in high school to get a decent-paying manufacturing jobs which supplied also decent benefits. you could have said that someone who failed to pay bills on time or allow themselves to be "get in over their heads" was in fact negligent and irresponsible.

Of course, America doesn't do much more – most products line the shelves "Big Box" that come from China. jobs that stay for most people to high school graduates (and increasingly, college graduates) are underpaid jobs service and the corporations that now control the Government (and are buying the current election) so hatred and contempt for the workers of America and America that they are putting to ship even those jobs in China.

The point is that a great many Americans – who put their trust in a system that has worked very well until the 1980s – were betrayed and too often fall into financial problems through no fault of their own, although the servants business in Congress and the joy of media in their fault.

Here lies the problem when it comes to General auto insurance and credit scores.Though many insurers would have you believe otherwise, the fact is that many people who wind up with poor credit standing through no fault of their own are thoughtful, conscientious driver – perhaps even more so, since they have much more to lose.

State Authorities at

The Federal Government is so bought-and-paid-by corporate interests that is almost a lost cause – but many State and local governments do a much better job of representing the interests of its citizens. among these officials are State Insurance Commissioners, who work to keep the insurance companies online. Today, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has announced that the organization intends to continue to question the practice of tying the cost of auto insurance coverage at the consumer's credit score in States where this is currently allowed in some States, simply means that a consumer with "poor credit" may be unacceptable for car insurance budget. in some cases, however, someone who has financial problems without own fault could face premiums that are more than 40%.

In The Meantime …

Insurance regulations of each State are different. In you live in a more progressive as Washington or Oregon, credit and insurance scores, probably not a problem for you. People in Southeastern States respectful business are going to have a harder time, however.

It is important to educate our cars, compare auto insurance rates and find out what the law is in your State Insurance Department going to the site – then start pressuring local legislators.

Credit Problems? Online car insurance can offer solutions

Is egregiously wrong, particularly when our Government representative (not) gleefully bails out the banks and companies the biggest, most powerful and richest when behave irresponsibly, still ignore the situation of workers and allows them to be punished, again and again, when they get into financial difficulties, through no fault of their own. However, in many countries, people with "bad credit" are penalized on their car insurance – but shopping for car insurance online can still offer some relief.

It's not what you think

In many cases (Michigan is one), people with credit scores "downgraded" aren't necessarily penalised with fines being charged higher car insurance price. what happens, though, these people are made ineligible for cheap car insurance rates special offers and Discounts that are offered for the lucky and rich.

However, one of the beauties of a free market (which has some controls and consumer protections in place) is that companies like auto insurers, yet are forced to compete for your business – and when it comes to auto insurance, that competition is brutal (and that's good news for you).

The online marketplace

Because it is getting easier all the time to buy car insurance over the Internet, you can get a car insurance quote from any number of companies within a very short period of time.Think the auto insurance company as an employee if you were the boss (and you are really). If your insurer auto isn't doing the job hired to do, fire and take another.

If your current insurer is not prepared to offer a discount for being a safe driver, conscientious, just because you (like 98% of Americans who actually have to work for a living) have had a rough patch financially, there are others out there that will be very happy to have your business.

What else can be done

If your car is older and less than $ 1000, you can delete your comprehensive coverage, because you're probably paying more prizes the vehicle is worth. you can also increase your deductible (the amount that you pay out of Pocket first question kicks in).

If you're thinking of buying another vehicle, consider that certain makes and models benefit from car insurance inexpensive compared to other more easily. This will require some research and due diligence on your part, but will go a long way toward helping reduce costs of auto coverage.
