Distracted Driving: Poor to Affordable Auto Insurance

People often don't think but distracted driving concerns the availability of affordable car insurance for everyone. Statistics show that a high percentage of accidents are caused by driver distractions, including the use of portable devices such as mobile phones and the I-pod.

Surprisingly, even if a majority of people expressing agreement that behind the-wheels activity such as texting, and taking or making phone calls is not a good thing, particularly when it comes to car insurance clients responsibility, often do not follow their own advice when it comes to these activities.

A big surprise is that that distracted driving is more common in Canada than the United States

"Two sons of a mother common"

Canadians and Americans use share very large when it comes to language and culture – but there are many significant differences as well.Among these differences is the fact that Canadians tend to be more honest overall more their cousins South of the border.

There's actually a historical reason for this has to do with how the Western frontier was settled in each country. In the United States, the "Wild West" was indeed wild: settlers they homesteaded and built the city in territories where there was nothing (aside from indigenous Indians live already) – in particular, no Government, no law and no law real. cities were controlled by ruthless "strong men" and their bands in places like Deadwood North Dakota and Tombstone, Arizona – and violence was trivial. Finally, U.S. marshals were dispatched to these communities of illegality, but bringing the order was a challenge – and this had a real impact on the American psyche.

In Canada, outposts of the RCMP were established even before any settlers – so there was already the presence of law and order when they arrived.

Of course, this all happened long before Karl Benz had the idea to combine the internal combustion engine with a carriage – or "walkie-talkie" of WWII has evolved today's mobile phones and PDAs. apparently, when it comes to driving while talking on the phone, there is little difference between American and Canadian pilots.

Statistics security and car insurance

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that just under half a million accidents in the USA (nearly two percent of which caused fatalities) in 2009 were attributable to driving distracted. Fully 80% of these were due to the guide in a way "imprudent or distracted". Meanwhile, another survey conducted by Allstate Canada showed practically the same statistics North of the border.

What is interesting here is that in the opinion Research Corporation, 90% of Americans use support laws prohibiting the use of mobile devices while driving – still more than half of them continue to do so. However, gets worse in Canada: according to the survey Allstate, while almost all drivers Canadians feel that distracted driving was a bad thing, three-quarters of them still engage in activities of distraction, seated at the steering wheel.

The implications for car insurance? driver Canada submitted to pay more.

Why?

Researchers believe that drivers on both sides of the border don't understand fully what constitutes a "distraction". use cell phone and other portable devices are certainly distraction – but so is eating and drinking while driving, the attempt to regulate the radio, changing a CD and even conversations with passengers.
